Low mood & recovery

When everything feels heavier.

Depression is more than a bad day. This page offers a gentle overview of common experiences, supportive habits and when professional help may be useful.

A useful starting point

Depression can affect mood, motivation, sleep, appetite, concentration, confidence and the ability to enjoy things that would normally matter. It may arrive gradually, and it can be difficult to recognise when low mood has become something more persistent.

Things worth trying or noticing

  • Keep expectations small when energy is low. One manageable action is still an action.
  • Protect regular sleep and waking times where possible.
  • Stay connected to at least one trusted person rather than disappearing completely.
  • Build gentle structure into the day, even when motivation is missing.
  • Seek urgent help if you are at risk of harming yourself or feel unable to stay safe.
